From There to Here
Share the Harvest’s Story
2014
The idea of Share the Harvest begins! Customers can ‘opt in’ to receiving free produce with their orders, with the intent to Share the Harvest with a friend, neighbor, or someone in need.
2015-2016
Doubled down and began delivering free weekly produce boxes. Employees from Fresh Harvest personally delivered these boxes to families and neighbors they had identified from their community as in need.
2017
We begin growing culturally appropriate vegetables (think: Thai chilis and squash greens) in the Fresh Harvest garden in preparation for the launch of our first Share the Harvest Market at Willow Branch Apartments! Our first market began in May 2017.
2018
Hosted field trips for local schools and afterschool programs and organized a horticultural therapy program at our farm in Clarkston.
2019
Interns from the local high school started working at the farm, selling produce at the markets and seedlings at local artisan markets.
2020-2022
COVID-19 pivots our operations away from Markets and back to distributing free produce boxes. We distributed 16,683 boxes to families out of work during this time!
2023
We hire some much needed human-power! Mary Lin takes on a new role as Share the Harvest Market Manager. We also launched our second weekly market at Indian Valley Apartments!
2024
Our third market launches at Rachel’s Court Apartments and Share the Harvest celebrates officially becoming a 501-c-3 nonprofit!
2025
Responding to the SNAP Shutdown, Share the Harvest hosts two markets in one day and hosts the largest market in our history.
2026
Got approved to accept EBT at our markets, began our 4th Weekly Market at Kristopher Woods, and hired leaders in the community to help run the markets.
